Arab Potash inks long-term supply agreement with Norway’s Yara

(MENAFN) Arab Potash Company (APC) announced on Monday the signing of a long-term supply agreement with Norway’s Yara International, one of the world’s leading fertiliser producers, aiming to boost APC’s presence in global markets.

The deal was signed in Zurich by APC CEO Maen Nsour and Europe CEO Rashid Loubani, with Board Chairman Shehadeh Abu Hdeib present. Yara was represented by Senior Vice President of Procurement Fredrik Schutz, along with Jacob Trader and Erik Christopher Reinsch, according to APC.

Under the agreement, APC will supply Yara with annual potash volumes to meet its worldwide demand. Supplies will be sourced mainly from Jordan, with logistical support from APC Trading & Logistics Europe AG to ensure smooth delivery.

Abu Hdeib described the deal as a milestone, reflecting international confidence in Jordanian potash and APC’s ability to meet the requirements of major global customers while maintaining quality and efficient logistics. He said the agreement aligns with the Economic Modernisation Vision, emphasizing mining and manufacturing as key economic drivers, and reinforces APC’s commitment to royal directives on adding value to national industries and expanding exports.

Nsour noted that the partnership supports APC’s strategy to expand in key global markets, particularly Europe, and highlights Jordanian potash as a high-quality product for leading fertiliser producers. He attributed APC’s strong European presence to its focus on sustainability, energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and responsible resource management.

Loubani added that the agreement would strengthen APC’s commercial and logistical integration in Europe, with APC Trading & Logistics Europe AG and the company’s São Paulo office ensuring reliable supply chains.

The deal formalizes a growing partnership, with Yara among APC’s largest clients in 2024.

Volumes are expected to increase in the coming years amid geopolitical developments that reinforce Jordan’s role as a dependable global potash supplier supporting food security.

Founded in 1905 and headquartered in Oslo, Yara International operates in over 60 countries and is a major global producer of fertilisers and crop nutrition products, especially nitrogen-based fertilisers.
